Four friends followed their dream to restore an iconic Newtown pub, adding not only a Rooftop Bar and Sky Garden but also a modern flavour, a fun new social space and the best views of Geelong's waterfront and beyond.
The pub was built in 1855 and is known as the birthplace of the Geelong Cats Football Club as the team played at an oval just behind the hotel. The venue has a strong historic background, for many years being known as Irish Murphys, until mates Shaun, Tom, Dan and Ian reinvigorated the venue and gave it a new chapter in the history books!
The venue layout has been modernised, with three levels and four different areas to cater for anyone looking for that place to have a drink, catch up with friends, have a special event, watch all your favourite sports live in HD or to simply bask in our amazing views.
Our downstairs Front Bar has kept it's classic pub feel with a comfortable and cosy atmosphere and is home to free live music from 9pm every Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoons!
Our Restaurant has an extensive menu that includes Irish classics, pub favourites and options for Vegans and Vegetarians.
The Rooftop space is encased with large glass windows for the benefit of the view while avoiding the chill that comes with being an outdoor bar. With tasty cocktail and regularly rotating taps dedicated to craft beer - our Rooftop Bar is your one-stop-shop for Friday night knock off drinks, weekend celebrations or a peaceful week day drink while you take in the beautiful scenery that encompasses Murphys.
