About Crown Hotel
The Crown Hotel, originally constructed from timber in 1884, has a rich history of ownership and development. Michael Phelan took over as licensee in 1927, a position he held for 30 years, with his son Denis assisting him in the later years. In 1979, Michael's grandson Terrance assumed the license after several other license-holders had managed the hotel since 1957. Terry Phelan acquired the freehold in 1983.
In January 2021, Brett Neilson purchased the hotel. The establishment was then closed from March 2021 for a year to undergo extensive renovations carried out by BFN Developments. Today, the Crown Hotel has been transformed into a modern pub that retains its original historical fixtures. It is operated by a team of local hotel professionals and features a unique menu and a diverse selection of draught beers, including unpasteurised Carlton Draught tank beer.
